Associate, Philanthropy
CurrentI am responsible for acquiring, cultivating and stewarding relationships with my organizations donors in the major gifts sector to retain and increase the donors engagement with the organization. Currently using Raiser's Edge donor management software to maintain donor records and profiles with the most updated information gathered from both research in Blackbaud and interactions with donors.
Youth Programs Coordinator
My role as the Youth Programs Coordinator was to ensure that all children from ages 5 to 21 had the appropriate independent living skills training as well as job skills to become independent contributing members of their communities. My responsibilities included developing and implementing curriculums for both the children's programs and the Pre-ETS transition program. In addition, IEP representation was made a priority for all children and teens living in the tri-county area. I researched and obtained real-work experiences for the students, as well as introducing them to the community participants they would need to be aware of including the tax collector, Social Security offices, colleges and financial institutions. I worked to ensure each child had assessments throughout the year to provide a measurable outcome of their performance in certain skills. I developed and implemented a program to involve parents by providing workshops and open houses so that parents were given the appropriate tools to best help their child.
Social Worker
I developed and implemented adjustment to blindness support groups for Pasco and Hernando counties. I created, scheduled and maintained an array of class topics and discussions on adjustment to blindness for adults with visual impairments taking the independent living skills class. Additionally, I managed a case load of clients who participated in both individual counseling and family counseling pertaining to vision loss and the affects it has on both personal and family dynamics. I collaborated with Saint Leo University to be an internship agency for the social work undergraduate program. During that time, I supervised a social work student where I was able to mentor her in the appropriate documentation, case management and sensitivity training necessary for skill development as a social worker. I represented the agency in public speaking opportunities to develop awareness of vision rehabilitation services and remove the negative stigma associated with vision loss. I advocated for an accessible college campus where several adjustments were made to create a more diverse and inclusive campus for students with vision loss.
Rehabilitation Teacher
Facilitated group classes of individuals who were both congenitally blind and those with adventitious vision loss. Assessments and case management were performed to evaluate the progress of each client and to accurately produce a measurable outcome of developed skills. Curriculum and lesson planning were developed to teach and assess each independent living skill for greatest long-term success. Itenerate services were performed for those who needed additional skill training and for those who were unable to attend agency-based training.
Assistant Teacher
I currently help children become more independent and self-sufficient who are dealing with vision loss and blindness.
