Heather realized her passion for the meeting and event industry at the age of 16 while helping her mother coordinate the entertainment programs and talent show competitions for a local festival in her home town of West Valley City, Utah. That passion led her to Las Vegas where she completed her Undergraduate and Master's degrees in Hospitality Management from the William F. Harrah Hotel College at UNLV. She also earned a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs at UNLV. While at UNLV, she blended her passion for meetings and events and her love for technology when she wrote her Master's thesis “Specifications for Mobile Applications for Meetings and Conferences." That Master's thesis led her to Core-Apps, where she has been a member of the account management team since 2012. She is also a Part-time Instructor at UNLV, educating the future leaders of our industry. In her downtime, Heather can be found spending time with family in the great outdoors.

We had several guest speakers and youth advocates speak to the girls about the power they have to affect change by sharing their story. Events Manager, 14Th Annual Graduate Student Research Conference In Hospitality And TourismUniversity Of Nevada Las Vegas Jan 2007 - Jan 2009During my time at UNLV I also had the pleasure of planning the 14th Annual Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in 2009. The event was a huge success. The 14th annual conference boasted the highest number of participants and total number of research papers presented, since the beginning of the conference. There were over 600 students, faculty, and industry professionals in attendance. I worked with the hotel catering department to plan the menu and set and monitor the guarantees for 5 meals (including the awards banquet and opening reception) and 6 break-outs. I planned the conference schedule and worked with presenters to determine the times they would present their research papers, and scheduled each room. I also worked with the printer to design and layout the printed conference program.I recruited, trained, scheduled and supervised 25+ student volunteer workers.I managed all on-site logistics and handled any issues that arose from the vendor or the attendees over the duration of the 3 day conference.I worked with the registration vendor to manage the online registration system, and monitored registration for 6 months. -
