I am a Health Information and Systems Integration Consultant with 20 years' experience in solution architecture, development and integration of health information systems. My interest is in shared health records, electronic transfer of care and health information exchange. I specialise in the architecture and integration of digital health solutions using openEHR data repositories, clinical archetypes, HL7 (Health Level 7) messaging and FHIR APIs. Previously, I have been a member of Standards Australia health messaging working groups, HL7 Australia Board member and represented at HL7 International Working Group Meetings. I have contributed to the openEHR data specifications as co-author of the Archetype Query language, conceived the Template Data Schema and Template Data Objects approach and member of the openEHR Specification Editorial Committee (SEC) and continues on the SEC Expert Panel.While working at Ocean Informatics I was architect and development lead of the first openEHR Clinical Data Repository and Demographic repository. This CDR underpinned the implementation of the first jurisdictional-scale production clinical systems based on openEHR, including infection control, shared clinical documents and integrated care planning. I have provided health system integration, solution and enterprise architectures consulting to Australian commonwealth, state and territory health departments. Now as a freelance Health Information and Systems Integration Consultant I am looking to help digital health implementations realise better healthcare for citizens through the sharing of meaningful normalised clinical data.
