Prior to this, I was chief executive officer at the Speak Easy, Indianapolis' homegrown nonprofit coworking space--the first in Indiana to serve entrepreneurs. As an ecosystem builder, I focus on removing barriers to entrepreneurship by creating a shared economy of supportive connections, accessible resources, and know-how. My professional background is not linear. In the summer of 2021, Governor Holcomb appointed an entrepreneur as Secretary of Commerce. Secretary Brad Chambers made entrepreneurship a priority for the state of Indiana and created the VP of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems position. With the goal of advancing entrepreneurship throughout the state, we accomplished the following:- Launched the Entrepreneurship Indiana 2022 publication, highlighting inspiring stories of Hoosier entrepreneurs throughout the state- Partnered with Startup Genome, IBRC, and Chapman & Co to create new metrics and performance indicators to measure economic impact of entrepreneurship- Supported the STARTedUP Foundation and joined forces with the Department of Education to advance high school student adoption of the entrepreneurial mindset- Explored through Indiana's SBDC and in partnership with EcoMap, “What does it mean to use a digital front door and ecosystem navigators to get entrepreneurs to the right resource at the right time?” - Partnered with the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership to ask “What is possible together that isn’t possible alone?” and piloted the XTern Startup Assistance Program and Hardtech Indiana- Worked with Elevate Ventures, gBeta, GEN, and entrepreneur support organizations around the state to put Indiana’s entrepreneurship and innovation under a bigger spotlight
