Jay Heath is a Director of Institutional Research and Strategic Plan Management at The Overlake School. While serving as Director of Technology at The Ethical Culture Fieldston School, I had the good fortune to have Jay on my team. When I first arrived at ECFS, he was already doing incredible work within the two elementary divisions-- managing each division’s academic technology specialist, partnering with faculty to support their curricular and professional development needs, and collaborating with principals to develop vision and language for new division wide initiatives. Within six months of working together, it became clear to me that Jay’s education, communication and leadership skills had value beyond the elementary divisions. The following year he was appointed to the role of Associate Director of Technology for Academic Programs, a move that positioned him to influence the direction of educational technology at all grade levels. As Associate Director, Jay’s impact was immediately felt. He unified and inspired the tech integrators in all four divisions, energized the faculty and engaged the student body, leading to the creation of the school’s first STAC (Student Technology Advisory Committee). How did Jay accomplish so much at a large institution in so little time? He is a consummate planner and consensus builder. He is constantly learning, exploring and sharing. Perhaps most importantly, Jay is in a constant state of self-reflection. He seeks feedback and mentorship in all areas of of his life and is committed to incorporating what he receives into both his professional and personal world. In a nutshell, Jay Heath has dedicated himself to mastering the art of transforming humility into actionable items. I can only imagine where Jay's future will take him, but whatever communities he becomes a part of along the way will be the better for his time there."
