Heath has over 15 years of experience in environmental assessment, stakeholder engagement, modeling, and science communication with the objective of improving long term sustainability in coastal and riverine systems. Heath is Director of the Integration and Application Network (IAN), at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. IAN is a group of over 25 scientists that engage in a variety of socio-environmental projects in Africa, Asia, Australia, North America, Oceania, and South America. Heath is responsible for all aspects of the IAN group, including management of operations, establishing and maintaining strategic directions, developing and strengthening partnerships, and administration of the IAN enterprise. He also normally leads several high-profile projects. Heath uses an inclusive approach that engages communities with researchers and managers to help identify a shared vision for their ecosystem.
