As the director of media relations and community programs, I managed all public information for the elected district attorney in Colorado's 19th Judicial District. I was responsible for managing daily media requests about high-profile cases, developing community-specific educational programs and managing all open records requests for the office. As the city reporter for the Daily Camera, I was responsible for covering breaking news, features, the City Council and other elected leaders, government accountability and many other topics. I won several state awards for my feature and news writing, which spanned from breaking news to in-depth reporting. I'm particularly proud to have been awarded first place by the Colorado Associated Press for feature writing in 2007-2008 for my story about a local Marine who was wounded in Iraq.
