This is a start-up organization in Louisville, KY and I serve as its first director. We are focused on saving historic properties in Louisville. This can include funding from our revolving fund (funds are currently invested in projects like Whiskey Row), and direct purchase of properties, such as lots for future infill, or restoration of historic structures. We also give guidance to owners of historic properties, and are working to help save other historic structures in a number of ways.

During this time the downtown vacancy rate went from 20% to 3%. We also had significant improvements to the four major festivals (such as the White Squirrel Festival, with apx 40,000 visitors) that took place as well as other events, including helping to launch an event called Luft-Wasser, which features Porsche cars from all around the Eastern US. Wrote for and received several grants, including two larger grants for downtown property owners. Worked to help bring new businesses, infrastructure, and events into downtown Elizabethtown, KY. Elizabethtown had been losing businesses in downtown for decades. During my time here we stopped the losses and began to net about 1 new business per month for the last 2 years I worked here. After I moved to the next position in North Carolina, work continued on the plans that were developed during my time here, and you can see the results in new construction and restoration that is taking place… Show more Worked to help bring new businesses, infrastructure, and events into downtown Elizabethtown, KY. Between the Years of 2008 to the end of 2011 there will have been over $25 million invested into downtown Scottsville and the retail occupancy rose to 98% and several upstairs apartments were also renovated. in late 2010 Scottsville received the Enterprise City Award (for our work at the Heart of Scottsville's downtown improvement program) from the Kentucky League of Cities.
