Worked as a senior software engineer on the analytics team supporting BlueKai's data management platform (DMP) in a production environment. The core of the analytic software is a Hadoop cluster that is accessed using pig and Java map/reduce code. The cluster is supported by software written in a variety of languages including Java, Python and perl.

Co-founder of a small consulting firm providing hardware and software expertise to companies. My focus was on application design and implementation in a client/server environment as well as GUI design for data intensive applications. Projects included working on a large scale distributed data archiving system implementing a XAM based client side API in both C and Java as well as server side code to support the API. Previous projects have focused on work flow analysis and GUI design for network security, network management and medical software companies. All of these projects required analysis and design of the user interface and were implemented in Java using the Swing toolkit to build heavily customized interfaces.

Worked on the platform team maintaining and enhancing the framework used by all of Guidewire's applications. Areas of responsibility include both backend server work as well as Swing development on Guidewire's IDE.

Implemented a server for storing customer data including GPS tracking information, business objects and file storage. The system was implemented in Java and is running on Amazon's AWS cloud framework. Additionally, I was responsible for client libraries to communicate with server written in both Java and C++ as well as all associated test and server administration tools.

Worked as a principal software engineer for a team specializing in debugging software for WindRiver’s VxWorks real-time embedded operating system. My primary responsibility was to provide technical leadership to the ScopeTools development team especially in the area of host side application development and graphical user interface design. Additionally, I was the project lead for two tools both of which were new or completely redesigned products. These tools were TraceScope, a real time code tracing tool and CoverageScope, a tool for determining test suite code coverage.

Worked as the software manager and lead engineer for all of ComView’s client side application development. Responsibilities included taking over an existing project and getting back on schedule as well as developing and delivering a new product based on a brand new code line. This was accomplished with no technical handoff as the previous team had already left the company. ComView ran out of funding in April of 2001.

Worked as the architect and lead software engineer for a team of five software developers working on a suite of network management software products. The entire suite was written in Java and includes several standalone applications for element management, wizard like configuration, data editors as well as a multi-tier client/server architecture designed to scale to handle very large installations. I was responsible for the architecture and GUI design of the initial product and core Java packages shared by all the applications

Worked as part of a team developing a framework that enabled customers to provide their clients with web based access to information stored in their document repository. The software was written in C++, targeted at both Solaris and WindowsNT and was designed to integrate into the customers web server

Worked as the lead GUI engineer for an internet based information search and retrieval application based on the Z39.50 protocol. The application provided end users with access to commercial and internet databases. It was written in C++ utilizing the Visix Galaxy platform independent software library.Worked with a GIS expert performing OOA/OOD and GUI design of a spatial data browser targeted to run under OSF/Motif on Sun workstations.Redesigned and implemented the GUI for a SunView toOSF/Motif port of a large image modeling sofware package.Worked as the sole software engineer on a large scale real time imagery workstation implemented on a Sun 4/330 utilizing custom hardware. The software was written in C++ and ran under XWindows using OSF/Motif.Worked independently to prototype a FLIR (forward looking infrared) video workstation on a NeXT Dimension. The software was written in Objective C using Next Interface Builder.

Worked as part of a team developing a geographic and data analysis package in C running under XWindows using OpenLook. The application was integrated with an Ingres database using embedded SQL.

Worked as a co-op student to analyze, design and code a utility forecasting model which implemented a user developed math model, and incorporated Lotus 123
