• Provide PBLA training, guidance, mentoring and support to colleagues, program and students
• Deliver workshops to colleagues related to PBLA implementation in their own classroom
• Meet one-on-one with teachers to discuss PBLA-related topics (includes CLB, Task-Based Instruction and Task-based Assessment)
• Facilitate small group, informal discussions among instructors. Share practices and strategize solutions to issues raised
• Observe teachers and provide feedback and/or suggestions as a peer/colleague
• Take over a teacher’s class to free the teacher to undertake task-based language where necessary

• Design PBLA based module plans as well as daily lesson plans following the Canadian Language Benchmarks
• Develop a diversity of course materials that are based on the Curriculum Guidelines in a task-based program for CLBs 4-5-6
• Conduct on-going needs assessments with learners, assist them to set learning goals and develop lessons accordingly
• Design assessment tasks for on-going evaluation of learners’ progress based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA guidelines
• Assist learners in organizing and updating the PBLA Language Companions (learner portfolios) as evidence of their learning progress
• Prepare learners’ conference summary and progress reports. Conduct one-on-one interviews with learners to provide feedback on learning progress

• Prepare students for entry into an English-speaking higher education program, either at the college or the university level.
• Teach the Academic Word List, lecture listening and note taking, critical thinking skills, essay writing, research and citation skills, academic honesty, and other academic behaviour.
• Prepare, select and use appropriate teaching learning materials, including creating own materials.

• PBLA lead for the LINC program at Algonquin College Language Institute:
• Deliver workshops related to PBLA implementation.

• Develop and maintain an inclusive & equitable classroom atmosphere where participants are welcome and engaged in learning.

• Assess student progress in-class through Portfolio-Based Language Assessments, completing Learner Conference Summaries and Progress Reports and advancing students to the next level of learning when appropriate.
