Developed training for IT staff and end-users, drafted RFPs, participated in bid reviews, part of a rotating on-call schedule and assumed management duties as needed. I was charged with researching, surveying and engineering secure network solutions. I started on the helpdesk, moving to Tier 2 support, then quickly into a network infrastructure environment where my education in routers, switches and firewalls began. After supporting infrastructure for several years I was moved into the security team where I managed the base firewalls, edge routers, proxy servers and VPN connectivity. One of my personal highlights was integrating the Wilford Hall Network with Lackland AFB.

I launched my information technology career at a local computer store. I was responsible for sales, custom built computers, PC repair, on-site installation and troubleshooting, basic network design, company web site design, and advertisement campaigns. I was the primary trainer for customers interested in learning Windows and Office applications. Additionally, I worked part-time at a local ISP as helpdesk support.
