The experience that I have in Rolling mills start when I was working at Hylsa Puebla in 1983, in that time Mexico has a lack of USD so all the spares or the Rolling Mill and improvements were designed and manufactured inside the plant, after this economic crisis Hylsa decided to update (1991) the 23 stands schloemann Rolling Mill of 2 strands, with 2 Blocks of 8 stands each, with a finishing speed of 40 mts/sec for a Morgan finishing layout of 26 stands with one pre finisher and one NTM morgan block of 10 stands, with a finishing speed of 110 mts/sec, that event detonate a lot of training for the people working at the Rolling mill, in particular I was several times in Morgan Constructions Company in Worcester Mass. for training in maintenance, operation, Roll shop management, Rolling Mill automation basis, after the start up I learn a lot about the heat treatment for the Rod with the water boxes, and in the stelmor conveyor, also I received training how to adjust the Rolling Mill and what were the key points to get a smooth Rolling.But for Hylsa this was not enough and they invest in training for all the managers in the rolling mill with the best available consultants in the world in that time, I was in Japan in Daido for several time receiving specific training in how to operate and mantain a Hi speed rolling Mill to achieve 85% productive time. To achieve this we have to learn how to measure the performance of a Rolling mill and how to identiy the key performance indicators to have a full view of the Rolling Mill performance.
