Sr. Electrical EngineerTexas Energy Engineering Services, Inc. Jan 2000 - PresentHector V. Gonzalez, Ph.D.Electrical EngineerA biographyMr. Hector V. Gonzalez studies everything he can. Hector always has been and always will be a “natural” Electrical Engineer. He understands electricity as only a man with multiple lives as an Electrical Engineer could possibly comprehend. Hector is always learning.“GURU” is a calling he has had attached to his name from outstanding Engineers throughout his life. When others run and give up, Mr. Gonzalez stands tall and faces all issues head on. Hector does his homework, asks the right questions to the right people, and calculates the best answer. When shit hits the fan, you want Hector standing next to you.1. An electrical contractor had a shopping mall with 300 stores closed because the electric utility company service people would not connect the mall due to a “ megger short circuit” measurement. After 48 hours of several men on overtime and double time, Mr. Hector v. Gonzalez was called on site. After discussing the issue, Mr. Gonzalez took a hand held megger, made a measurement, and walked over to the main breaker panel and pulled a small CT Fuse. The short circuit was removed, the mall was connected.2. Mr. Gonzalez was flown to Caracas, Venezuela, South America. He was taken 90 miles south of the city to the “Ft. Knox” of Venezuela. A General Electric represenative, a Building contractor from Columbia, the owner of the facility representing the federal government, and the Utility company representative were all present and arguing. “We brought you here because the power usage billing is incorrect and someone has to take responsibility for the gross errors.” Mr. Gonzalez discovered that the metering from the utility verses the customer was off by 300%! As everyone in the room argued, Mr. Gonzalez opened the programmer attached to the metering and read the settings. Mr. Gonzalez quickly realized the all calculations from the Data processor on the metering was off by the square root of 3! -
