While working for Santillana del Pacífico, leader in the Chilean educational market, I have had the opportunity of leading the operational area of the Company, supervising more than 30 professionals in the Finance, Planning and Control, Risk, IT, Production, Logistics and Customer Service departments. As Head of Finance I was in charge of preparing regular financial statements, developing budgets and financial forecasts and defining strategic KPI’s. Additionally I managed the relationship with Banks, internal and external auditors and with the tax agency.During this time, I reorganized the area focusing the strategy in both, the internal and external customers. As the operational team, we additionally implemented different efficiency plans that produced operational savings of 14.6% at the end of 2016.In 2016 I led the outsourcing of the logistic operations, being responsible of selecting the logistic partner and having an active participation in launching the operation in the facilities of the external logistic operator. As an active member of the Santillana del Pacífico Board I have participated in the strategic decisions of the Company, having a key role in the design of the editorial plans as well as in the commercial strategies. The Board assigned me the responsibility of launching the e-commerce as well as opening new educational related businesses as the Singapore math method or the Finnish anti-bullying method KiVa.

For five years I worked as the head of the Operational Area, including Accounting, HR, Logistics, Production, IT and Digital Content department, of the Santillana affiliate in USA, publishing company which commercializes Spanish books for non-Spanish speakers in the U.S. market. During this period my team achieved an important operational cost reduction (11.6%) even though we increased our sales in 14.1%, improving our cash flow in 53.1%. Additionally, I modernized the operational area setting up the Digital Content department and contributing in relevant projects as the signed agreement with Schoology, one of the leaders of the educational digital platforms market, in 2014.

In Grupo Santillana I worked as a financial controller for the Corporate Management Controlling Department, being in charge of the financial statements analysis, monitoring main KPI’s of the 22 subsidiaries (LatAm, U.S., Portugal and Spain) that belonged to the Company and also was my duty to consolidate such information. I had also the opportunity of participating in the preparation and evaluation of the forecasts of the Group.

In Accenture I was in charge of the Royal Sun Alliance Insurance Group cost controlling, second largest insurance Company in U.K., reporting directly to the client (RSA). This experience gave me the opportunity to work together with the U.K. and Indian teams.
