Characterized various Mycobacterium tuberculosis enzymes, pyrazinamidase (PncA), proline dehydrogenase (ProDH) and Δ1-pyrroline-5- carboxylate dehydrogenase (P5CDH). Also involved in the Stop TB Initiative Project kinetically characterizing various compounds that were found to be viable inhibitors to PncA.

Completion of graduate work, including the utilization of the high-throughput screen to isolate enzymes with increased dehalogenation activity.

The characterization of various enzyme members of the tautomerase superfamily. Main project was to mutate Cg10062, a bacterial enzyme with low-level dehalogenase activity, to be a more efficient dehalogenase. Development of a genetic selection system that would allow for a high-throughput screening of dehalogenation was constructed.

Ran gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (GC-FID) and gas chromatography with a photoionization detector (GC-PID) in the semi-volatile organic chemistry department in order to detect gas and diesel range organic contaminants in soil and water samples. Ran inductively coupled plasmas mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) as head of the metals department in order to detect various metal contaminants in soil and water samples. Was responsible for a lab technician while in the metals department.
