Creative and innovative DEI thought leader, professor, and trainer prioritizing the importance of effective relationships and streamlined services to support cross-functional groups and overall institutional goals. Seeking a new role in higher education administration with a focus on DEI leadership to expound on previous skills garnered both in and out of the classroom. Dr. Ortiz is President of H.R Property Management and H & R Communication and Consulting Services. Until Jan. 2021, Hector worked as Senior Director of Community Relations and Partnerships at Central Penn College. From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Ortiz served as an assistant professor and Director of Graduate Studies. Hector also serves as Communications Consultant for La Voz Latina Central, Bilingual Newspaper. From 2011 to 2015, Dr. Ortiz worked as Director of the Office of Health Equity within the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Previously, he worked as a community liaison and contract manager at Dauphin County. Hector is a leadership Harrisburg Area graduate, class of 2005. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a master’s degree in diplomacy, and a doctorate degree in international relations from Guayaquil State University. Hector Ortiz received an honorary-causes doctorate degree in public service, from Central Penn College in 2011, and got the Highest Toastmaster Educational Award, the Distinguished Toastmaster recognition (DTM) in 2018.Dr. Ortiz is the founder of several Latino organizations and served on the Harrisburg Area Community College Board of Trustees, and various other local and national boards and committees. Dr. Ortiz served from 2012 to 2017 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Health Equity Council (RHEC), Region III, Office of Minority Health. Hector chaired the Diversity Committee of the National Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and served on the ACCT Board of Directors from 2013 to 2020, and chaired the National Association of Latino Community College Trustees from 2015 to 2020. Hector has attended and presented at several conferences, symposiums, and summits. He has been working on issues of human and civil rights, equity, socioeconomic disparities, diversity, and inclusion.Dr. Ortiz is an inspirational speaker and a consultant in communication, diversity, and leadership. He is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) and has served in several positions at the area, division, and district level in District 38. Hector is the author of The Creative Energy of Positive Thinking: A Basic Approach to the Genuine Concept of Happiness.
