Anchoring features desk. Writing, editing, proofreading features articles

As the Associate Editor at Good Housekeeping Magazine, I was responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading the magazine's content (ranging from health, beauty, family, celebrity covers, to food, travel, housekeeping, shopping, and many more lifestyle sections revolving around women). Besides, I was anchoring the house section of the magazine which focused on houses, sharing ideas and tips on how to maintain or uplift the beauty of your house, writing market surveys and reviews of newly-launched home products and appliances, photo features of famous celebrity houses, editing and rewriting expert columns, coordinating with freelancers and industry representatives. My role also involved working closely with the editor and the design team to help shape the look and feel of the magazine and visualise layouts, and also with the marketing and sales teams, in order to build awareness, and increase readership by bringing in more and more interesting and read-worthy content for the magazine.

My job responsibilities included writing travel and lifestyle features, food reviews, traveling to various destinations and doing hotel reviews, content planning, editing articles, giving headlines, introductions, blurbs, as well as coordinating with freelance writers. Building media relationship with various PR executives and tourism board representatives of various countries including domestic states, travel companies, and cruises, to strengthen the content. In my five months in the company, I worked closely with the design team of the magazine in planning the layout and introduced fresh columns such as beauty and care, spa, a gadget column in the lifestyle section and an expert speak column in the travel section to speak on latest travel trends in India and abroad. I also brought out the 11th anniversary issue of the magazine in July which introduced another important aspect of travel, the MICE section. My other responsibilities included timely payments to all the travel writers. Maintaining list of important media as well as tourism contacts and keeping them updated about the magazine.

• As senior copy editor, I was one of the key cogs of TOI's city copy desk team. My role included laying out and packaging pages and proofing. I was involved in the planning and visualizing of layouts for weekend special edition pages. Besides, I also provided creative inputs on designing infographics and feature tiles.• Earlier, I have worked as copy editor cum correspondent with Delhi Times for 2 years. Responsibilities included reporting, writing features, and making pages. My role involved attending press conferences, covering page 3 parties and other live events, such as painting exhibitions, fashion and rock shows. I have followed the Indian television industry closely for two years, and conducted one-on-one interviews with eminent TV personalities, and film and sports stars. • I have worked closely with the brand audit team, which focuses on maintaining strict quality standards and ensuring zero-error pages.
