Worked on a 4-person collaborative internship project with Dr. Sean Banerjee and Dr. Natasha Kholgade Banerjee, Computer Science, and Dr. Tracy Lipke-Perry, Crane School of Music, on using RGB-D data to understand the interplay between experience level, posture, and overuse injury of pianists.Developed a Python-based MIDI recorder and parser, resulting in a 25% reduction in data processing time compared to previous methods. The MIDI recorder captured and processed raw data from the electronic keyboard, enabling key and pedal level analysis with 95% accuracy. This data facilitated productive dialogues between Dr. Tracy Lipke-Perry, our subject matter expert, and computer scientists, leading to more precise observations and data-driven insights.Designed a comprehensive capture protocol and successfully collected pilot data from 20 participants across varying proficiency levels. Collaborated closely with a graduate student to analyze hand keypoints using OpenPose, resulting in the identification of specific finger joint position variations associated with correct and incorrect playing styles. This research contributed to assessing musical proficiency through hand movement analysis.
