Hawthorn Power Plant

-Oversees all aspects of maintenance on a 590MW pulverized coal burning power plant that also has the capability to burn dual fuel (gas and coal co-fired).-Oversees all aspects of maintenance on the company's only combined cycle unit.-Supervises 5 foremen and approximately 50 union craft including Journeyman Mechanics, Electricians, welders, Insulators, Laborers, and Power Plant Technicians.-Reports directly to the Plant Manager on all aspects of power plant operation and maintenance, including safety, budget (O&M and Capital), scheduled and forced outages, planning, Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance actions and planning.

- Write estimates for construction projects ranging from small hundred dollar maintenance items to million dollar capital projects. - Executes projects by releasing work plans to field personnel, following up with any issues that arise, placing purchase orders for materials necessary and closing out projects with turn-over and any associated documentation.- Attends meetings for project development from the point of design basis clear through project execution and completion.- Attends all required safety training and completes field BOS (Behavioral Observation Surveys). - Performed a complete walk down and on-site calibration and quality review of the commercial boiler burner and all its associated piping, valves, electrical switches, valve and pump actuators and indicators, Burner Management Systems (BMS), and PLC installation and programming.- Startup boiler equipment ensuring that all parameters were within guidelines, including pressures, flows, temperatures, BMS and PLC operation, and stack emissions.- Trained all operators on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of new equipment.

Norfolk, Virginia Area

- Supervised 17 personnel in the administration, preventative maintenance, special testing, training, chemistry, and radiological controls of four of the most complex propulsion and reactor plants in the US Navy.- Reactor Training Department: instructed over 150 new personnel and another 500 qualified personnel in Basic Nuclear Qualifications that included electrical theory, mechanical theory, chemistry, radiological controls, and power plant operations.- Received a Navy Achievement Award for totally revamping the Basic Nuclear Enlisted Qualification Program and writing over 50 complex lectures and seminars on PowerPoint.
