As a PhD candidate at Instituto Superior Técnico, I have developed deep expertise in optimization algorithms, probabilistic modeling, and mathematical systems—all critical foundations for both data science and machine learning engineering. My academic journey has equipped me with strong analytical problem-solving skills, which I am now applying to machine learning and data-driven solutions.Key highlights of my PhD work include:--Developing optimization algorithms for fastest Markov chains and reducing operational time using my custom smallest-size SDP algorithm.--Implementing and optimizing various gradient descent methods in Python and applying them to Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs), directly relevant to model optimization in machine learning.As I transition into the field of machine learning, I have been building hands-on experience with:--PyTorch, where I’m learning to adapt and implement complex models.--Utilizing Docker and Git to manage and deploy machine learning workflows effectively.--Training models on cloud platforms, which has allowed me to scale my experiments and enhance model performance.My research background in optimization, combined with my growing practical experience in machine learning, positions me well for roles where I can contribute to solving complex problems, optimizing ML models, and driving innovation through data. I am particularly excited about opportunities in data science and machine learning engineering, where I can apply both my technical skills and my passion for learning.
