Profile bio

About Heidi Benningfield

Hi! My name is Heidi Benningfield and I am currently a rising junior at University of Wisconsin-Stout. I am a hardworking and dedicated student in and out of the classroom with a passion for engineering who can bring a unique perspective to the table. Alongside of top academics, I am a DIII gymnastics student assistant coach. I was a competitive gymnast for over 15 years, so I have been able to develop effective communication and leadership skills which I can now apply to coaching. I believe strong leadership is extremely important in an engineering field because projects are team based from all disciplines. As a leader, it is important for me to see the various strengths in everyone and provide guidance to help make strides toward the shared goals amongst team members. One of my most rewarding experiences as a college student has been being a laboratory assistant in the machine shop on campus. Here I get to assistant students on manual machining projects using a large variety of equipment. This has allowed me to gain a better understanding of the equipment and its capabilities. Helping students can be challenging at times but has taught me how to be patient and assist in the learning process. I also do the everyday lab tasks like lab setup and cleanup while learning to follow important safety procedures.I believe all these qualities make me an extremally strong candidate for any position that is offered to me. I am ready and excited to add my engineering expertise to the field!
