In my role, I contribute to research exploring the role of childhood science talk in STEM identity construction, specifically focusing on the experiences of Latine youths. Additionally, I mentor a team of undergraduate research assistants. This effort includes training in qualitative and quantitative research, issues of validity and trustworthiness, and communication of social science research.I also serve on the Postdoctoral Advisory Committee for FIU and the Awards Committee for a national organization of my discipline, the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST).

As a graduate research assistant, I contributed to research on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) instruction in middle school classrooms, inquiry-based teaching, and preservice science teacher development.I also taught courses in science teaching methods for elementary and secondary levels, including a course in laboratory teaching techniques. In these courses, I focused on teacher identity development, equity in instruction, and standards-aligned curriculum.I served on the Doctoral Advisory Committee for the department of Teaching and Learning at Clemson and the Graduate Student Committee for a national organization, the National Association of Research in Science Teaching (NARST).

I taught high school science courses, including biology, anatomy & physiology, and nutrition. I developed problem-based instruction that challenged students to use interdisciplinary skills to solve complex, real-world problems.I also co-led the school's senior project program, which included mentoring students in development of their project, assessment of project elements, and organization of a community event in which community members evaluated student work.
