The service coordinator II (mental health therapist) holds the QMHP (qualified mental health professional) credential. The service coordinator II primarily completes mental health/behavioral health assessments, risk assessments, treatment plans, and safety plans. The SC2/ mental health therapist meets with people individually or in group format- practicing psychotherapy, brief behavioral health counseling, crisis intervention, and case management/care coordination and advocacy. The “rehab” or “SPMI” program specializes in treating people determined to have a “severe and persistent mental illness”, many of whom face significant levels of societal oppression and unrelenting barriers keeping them from accessing the full potential of their life and well-being.

The purpose of FUTURES is to develop and evaluate a new program to support incoming PSU students who have experienced foster care and mental health stressors. Similar to Better Futures- "Youth who chose to enroll in the project were randomly assigned to either the intervention group or to a control group that received typical services. Our intervention drew upon supported education in mental health and strategies for promoting self-determination. Youth participating in the intervention received individualized coaching, peer support, and connection to foster care alumni and community resources. We investigated the impact of participating in Better Futures on youths'​ empowerment, confidence, planning for postsecondary education, social support, mental health recovery, and academic performance."

Duties include assisting with research relating to the "My Life"​ project. The My Life project supports young people transitioning from foster care to adulthood by teaching them how to problem solve, build relationships with adults, and plan. My Life's goal is to help the kids become self-sufficient. Lots of programs around the country help these youths find jobs, apply to college, learn how to manage finances and more. My Life teaches them how to think, plan and achieve.

SSS/TRiO is a program designed to help low income, first generation and/or students with documented disabilities navigate college life and early adulthood. As a Peer Outreach Mentor I would host events for students to get them to socialize with each other and to inform them about various things like stress management.
