About Heidi Harrison

We started tutoring school aged children in 2013 as a franchise company but quickly realised that the needs of our students were not being addressed in line with the Scottish Curriculum. We decided to branch out on our own to provide a more flexible approach to fit the needs of each of our individual students. Our tuition was offered at Centres locally to North Ayrshire, Inverclyde and Argyll and Bute. However, as the current situation prevents us from offering tuition in our Centres, we have changed to online tuition, which has proven to be a popular move amongst our students and their parents.

  • Largs Life Limited
Owner, Editor And Production Manager Of Largs Life Magazine
Largs Life Limited Jan 2013 - Jan 2016
    North Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom
I produced a monthly, local advertising magazine, which I created., I engaged in local market research to ascertain the viability of the service. I approached local businesses and organisations to find out their advertising requirements and began offering advertising space in a full colour, glossy A5 magazine, which also featured information to benefit the local community.I secured the advertising each month via telephone sales and face-to-face sales with local businesses and with the assistance of a local photographer and designer, I created each edition, contributed and approved the design on a very strict time managed basis. I arranged the printing of 6000 copies each month and organised the distribution of the magazine, managing a team of six distributors who hand delivered the magazine to the homes and businesses in the local area. I wasresponsible for all the financial aspects of the business ranging from sales to wages. This was an amazing opportunity to meet and be involved with the local community of business owners, local organisations and the people of the neighbourhood.
  • North Ayrshire Council
    Classroom Assistant
North Ayrshire Council Aug 2009 - Aug 2013
    North Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom
A large part of my role was supporting a young boy, through the medium of British Sign Language, during the first three years of his primary education. Although he had quite significant support needs, we were able to help him learn to read, write and speak. My other tasks included supervising break times and for all the children in the primary school, supervising on school trips and mediating between the children on occasions. I assisted children at the request of the teachers with specific tasks, including presentations and literacy and maths assignments. I helped teachers organise equipment for experiments and in cleaning this equipment and tidying classrooms. I helped prepare the school environment to be a welcoming place for the pupils to learn.Being able to see such differences in a child's achievements and understanding through supported learning made me appreciate how being able to give just a little extra time to a child can make all the difference in their education and the development of their skills.
  • Cumbrae Medical Practice

This was a pivotal role within the Surgery being the main connection between the Medical Staff, the Dispensary and Reception Staff, the Nurses and other medical care providers, the Health Board and the patients. My responsibilities included creating and implementing policies outlined by the Ayrshire and Arran Health Board to protect staff, patients and the Surgery itself. I ensured that the requirements for the Practice to check, follow up and refer patients in the ten areas of health that had been chosen throughout Scotland were fulfilled as part of the annual obligation to the Health Board.I managed the timetables of the Dispensing and Reception Staff, was responsible for the payroll and organised, and occasionally delivered, the training of the Staff throughout the Surgery. This was done by locating and booking appropriate trainers or presenting the material myself. I was responsible for purchasing of the medicine and medical appliances that were distributed by the Practice.
