The Networking Platform at Aalto University promotes cross-disciplinary collaborations and communication, inside and outside the university, to advance the university's strategic goals.In the Platform, we develop and support the variety of actions focused on popularizing, promoting and stimulate research activities in cross-disciplinary Key Research Areas at Aalto University. We also provide internal seed funding to support funding application preparation for significant consortia.My two areas of focus are Materials & Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Arts & Design Knowledge-Building.

Academic Coordinator with a team of highly-competent people supporting the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems in the School of Chemical Engineering at Aalto University. One of our outstanding collaborations is the Materials Bioeconomy Flagship FinnCERES, funded by the Academy of Finland. FinnCERES is a competence cluster composed of researchers from Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Center Finland, who are working on lignocellulosics, sustainable materials and solutions for bioeconomy.We also have the Centre of Excellence, LIBER: Life-Inspired Hybrid Materials, a joint research work between Aalto, VTT and Tampere University, which is also funded by the Academy of Finland.

Historical research and primary sources for the field require easy-to-find and accessible content. At ABC-Clio, I worked with a multi-talented team to select articles from academic journals for the America: History and Life database, intended for social science and humanities researchers. Together we wrote, fact-checked, and edited abstracts in English (in my case, from English, French, and German sources) focusing on the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Our amazing colleagues in library and other editorial staff helped us to select and assign writing assignments to over 300 volunteer and freelance abstracters. Tasks also included classifying and indexing, formatting, and proofing for print and web publication, as well as writing original content for educational purposes, such as encyclopedias and web guides.This job also allowed me to actively participate in fundraising within the company for our chosen charities in the Santa Barbara area.

Projects included academic reports, theses, and dissertations for social, political, natural, and computational science students and professionals; company reports for the 2006 Bertelsmann Transformation Index; teaching materials for Cornelsen's Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) textbooks; and business letters, websites, and electronic correspondence for business clients.
