I have been writing books for children for the last 7 years since I was made redundant from my Role as a Job controller for British Telecoms wholesale networks. I had always wanted to be a writer and this event gave me the courage to give it a go.

I was directly responsible for the planning and delivery of cabling for our corporate client. I managed the resourcing and planning for the installation of bespoke wiring systems for our business client. I was required to manage a large volume of orders and queries on a daily basis and to keep our clients well informed and up to date on all aspects of their business requirements. This required a high level of customer relations and correspondence, both written and also verbal. Conference calls and on occasion site meetings. It was always our ethos as a team to deliver excellent customer service via superb communication. I was sad to leave this role but our department was moving to London and we were loosing our client, my team was being disbanded.

I was part of a team answering incoming queries from BT customers with regards to setting up their Broadband service. We also had responsibility for recording and diagnosing faults via a line test system. I was a Diagnostic test officer. I would analyse line test results and arrange for the correct engineer or equipment. During this period I also fulfilled a role as a specialist dealing with Long standing faults and fielding high level customer complaints. These usually involved faults that had been over two weeks in duration. I had to manage the customers expectations and rectify things that had gone wrong. Finally arranging compensation for the customer once their issue was resolved. It was always very important for me to help 'Turn-around' a customer who felt let down and beleaguered. Helping them resolve their problems and leave as happy customers was always a great part of my job. I enjoyed the complexity and the challenge.
