Gold is a visual design studio based on both the East and West Coasts. We value strong partnerships, good design, and a hands-on approach. Partnering with the Director of Publishing on the design strategy, we reimagined the bespoke digital workbooks to be co-branded with the class, as well as the instructor. During my time there I art directed and designed over 50 books for classes including those for Margaret Atwood, Anna Wintour, David Sedaris, Spike Lee, and Natalie Portman.I also managed and mentored junior designers, and oversaw a number of freelancers and art directed illustrators and photographers. Besides the class books, I have art directed 50+ visual design decks, and bespoke class graphics including Daniel Pink and Roxane Gay's classes.

Art directed Stitch Fix’s 2016 “Style Goals” campaign, which included 4 photoshoots, and custom branding, including a logo and bespoke email design. During my time there I also worked on their re-engagement campaign, which is a series of 12 emails, art direction of corresponding photoshoots, as well as print collateral encouraging churned subscribers to re-up with the service. My favorite project was concepting and designing their first exclusive children’s clothing brand, rumi + ryder, which invloved a complete trim package— including a logo system and custom pattern, hang tags, labeling, color system, and stickers.

Taught a semester long online class titled Visual Literacy. An introdution to conceptualthinking and visual storytelling for first year MFA students. The class covered desconstuctionof the work of well-known designers such as Saul Bass, Paula Scher, and Chip Kidd.We explored infographics and ways to show multiple threads of time visually, as well asbranding projects that included the students creating their own brand, website, and products.

When Print magazine started their blog, Imprint, they asked a variety of people in the design world to contribute. I was finishing up my MFA and starting my own studio and was asked to write about what was going on in San Francisco, and my perspective on design. I wrote about a few of Gold’s first projects, including our use of a fractal as a visual metaphor for user-generated content media company Wikia (now Fandom). I also wrote about forgotten San Francisco signage, vintage photography, and local artists/screenprinters Osborne and Woods.

Worked on a number of campaigns including Visa, AAA, and re-branding for the Sun Valley Idaho resort. Designed wine labels for a new line of wine spritzers from Foster’s Wine Group, and assisted in the re-branding and redesign of St. Clement Vineyards in Napa Valley.
