After a PhD in the field of media narratology, a decade in academia and four years as coordinator of the Belgian film rating office, I currently work as Policy Advisor at the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR).For 12 years, first as a PhD-student and later as a Postdoctoral researcher, I was affiliated to the Literary Theory and Cultural Studies research group, KU Leuven, where I lectured in film and literature and cultural policy. My research focused on media narratology and literary adaptations of audiovisual narratives. I was a visiting professor in theory of visual communication at the University of Antwerp and lectured for several years in semiotics of film and photography at Luca School of Arts Genk.I completed a Manama and Master’s degree in Comparative Literature and a Bachelor’s in Literature and Linguistics (English-Dutch) at KU Leuven and studied Film Theory and Cognitive Systems at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. I worked in different functions at the media company Roularta and as a radio reporter for the film program at the student radio of Leuven.
