About Heidi Schaefer
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been captivated by the challenges and creativity that software engineering and coding offer. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of debugging a tricky issue or tackling an algorithmic puzzle—it feels like solving a complex, rewarding riddle. Collaborating on projects, especially with a team, fuels my passion and keeps me immersed for hours--I often lose track of time. Every line of code I write brings me closer to delivering a product that makes a meaningful impact for companies and consumers alike.I am a software engineer currently contracting with Bastille Networks, specializing in software development, embedded programming, and object-oriented programming.In addition to my current role, I’ve contributed as a freelance software engineer for FENNWORLD, a Utah-based cinematography company whose clients include Verizon, Fox, DreamWorks, and Canon. There, I developed Python scripts and tools integrated with Unreal Engine. I’ve also worked with High Impact Pictures, a California-based cinematography company, where I developed C++ devices that are now patent-pending.I hold two degrees in computer science and archaeology from Brown University, where I was a research assistant at the ACT Robotics Lab and contributed to the Kiosk Archaeological Digital Recording System—a field archaeology-based iPad and computer platform used globally. My academic journey also included two terms as an undergraduate teaching assistant for CSCI0150: Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming, leadership roles with Hack@Brown’s Workshops and Hardware Teams, and two years as treasurer of Technology House, Inc.
