Spectrum Fusion is a 501 C (3) Not-For-Profit organization that is making the world a better place for adults on the autism spectrum. The first program that we have developed is called The Reactor Room: A "Think Tank' for adults with autism. This is a collaborative initiative that is bringing together teams of business leaders, entrepreneurs, community connectors, therapists, and psychologists to brainstorm about finding new opportunities for adults on the spectrum.

Autism and Language Intervention-WA is the private practice of Dr. Heidi Stieglitz Ham. Dr. Stieglitz Ham provides assessment, diagnosis, and intervention of a speech and language disorders, and is part of an autism diagnostic team serving families in Perth, Western Australia as well as those families living in the regional areas of Western Australia.

Clinical Supervisor• Responsible for the supervision and implementation of the University of Queensland Speech and Language Clinic for children diagnosed with language delays and developmental disorders.• Supervise speech pathology clinicians providing therapy to children with developmental language disorders. Each of the four clinical students manages a caseload of three children.• Educate the family members regarding their child’s progress, provide home therapy protocols and information regarding parent-implemented therapy approaches to be used in the home and community environment. Lecturer• Responsible for teaching the undergraduate course, Disorders of Early Language (SPCH2105). Graduate students also participate in the course (SPCH7821). • Lecture as needed in an undergraduate course, Communication Disorders Across the Lifespan (SPCH 1100).

• Responsible for the training of clinicians in Lagos working with children with autism spectrum disorders.• Provided individual speech and language therapy to children on the autism spectrum.• Provided family training to parents of children on the autism spectrum in Lagos, Nigeria.

• Responsible for care management and implementation of care for patients and families.• Provided speech pathology services and acted as a consultant for clients with autism.

Pediatrics• Assessed, diagnosed, and provided therapeutic intervention to children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.• Consulted with schools to assist in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) for children diagnosed with autism. Wrote speech and language goals for all children and adolescents on the caseload.• Educated teachers, counselors, parents, and staff regarding goals for communication intervention for children with autism and other developmental disabilities.• Provided support and communication strategies for families with children demonstrating language impairments and challenging behaviors.Adults• Coordinated all aspects of care including assessing rehab facilities and outpatient treatment.• Implemented strategies for in-house systems for the elderly to stay in their homes for as long as possible with the support of community services. • Evaluated patient needs and determined appropriate placement regarding home care, assisted living, or long-term care. Provided family support services.

• Responsible for the University’s Autism Therapy Group and the supervision of the graduate students in speech pathology.• Responsible for the supervision and implementation of the Language Learning Group for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.• Supervised the speech pathology graduate clinicians providing daily feedback, offering guidance in weekly therapy plans, and conducting inservice training programs regarding therapy approaches.• Educated the family members regarding their child’s progress, provided home therapy protocols and information regarding parent-implemented therapy approaches to be used in the home and community environment. • Conducted weekly team meetings with the psychologist and the graduate clinicians to discuss the progress of the goals of the Language Learning Group and to offer advice/solutions to problems.

• Responsible for evaluation and treatment of patients in settings ranging from long-term care to public schools.• Provided speech and language intervention including strategies for alternative communication to pre-verbal children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders in a special needs classroom.• Assessed, diagnosed, and provided speech and language treatment to underprivileged and underserved children in a public middle school.• Performed MBS swallow studies and made recommendations for dysphagia in an acute care setting along with treating the patients speech/language disorders.

• Responsible for evaluating and treating patients in a 700 bed hospital in Dallas.• Responsible for requesting orders, providing treatment, making recommendations, communicating with the physicians and attending care meetings in all units of the hospital including acute care, subacute, rehab, long-term care, and outpatient settings.• Trained the respiratory therapy department on the proper use of a one-way valve that allows ventilator dependent patients to vocalize and then co-treated the patients with the respiratory therapists.• Presented inservices to the speech pathology staff regarding dysphagia evaluation and treatment, alternative communication, and use of the one-way speaking valve for patients with tracheostomies and ventilator-dependent patients.

• Provided therapy to patients with speech/language disorders, cognitive-linguistic disorders, and dysphagia in a specialty hospital for critically ill patients.• Played a key role in program development while making improvements to the Speech Pathology Department. • Streamlined evaluation process and developed assessment forms to increase time management. • Trained and supervised speech pathologists at affiliated hospitals to perform swallow studies with tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients.• Participated in bronchoscopy procedures of tracheostomized patients with the University of Chicago pulmonologists.• Educated fellows and residents in dysphagia, voicing, and the Passy-Muir speaking valve. • Provided hospital wide dysphagia inservice training to the nursing staff.• Developed a pleasure feeding protocol for end-of-life patients with dysphagia.

• Provided care to the urban population hospital wide including acute care, rehab, subacute, long-term care, home health, adult outpatient clinic, neonatal intensive care unit. • Performed comprehensive speech and language assessments to children with developmental disorders including children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.• Developed individualized treatment plans and consulted with the school system to implement speech and language goals in the school setting.• Provided speech and language intervention in the Pediatric Outpatient Center specializing in children and adolescents with autism and developmental disorders.• Assessed and diagnosed infant swallowing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.• Assessed, diagnosed, and provided intervention to adult patients with neurogenic communication disorders hospital wide including acute care, subacute care, rehabilitation, outpatient, and home health settings.• Wrote departmental policies and procedures including the clinical competencies to meet Joint Commission standards.• Participated in a hospital task force for improvement of the care of tracheostomy patient.• Educated the nursing staff hospital-wide regarding the use of the speaking valve.• Co-treated patients requiring alternative methods of communication with therapists from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.• Performed Modified Barium Swallow studies and implemented dysphagia therapy.
