I am the founder and CEO of Tangaroa Blue Foundation, a national not-for-profit organisation committed to addressing marine debris, one of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Established in 2004, the Foundation created the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) – a nationwide network of volunteers, communities, organisations, and partners dedicated to collecting and analysing data from beach and river clean-ups. Through these efforts, we aim to stop litter at its source and protect our coastal environments.Under my leadership, the AMDI has engaged over 250,000 volunteers and 3,500 partner organisations, who have removed more than 27 million pieces of debris from Australia’s shores. Our network has contributed valuable data to the AMDI Database, supporting the implementation of over 350 Source Reduction Plans that aim to prevent marine debris from entering the environment. We also provide resources and support programs to help communities care for their coastal ecosystems, collaborating with industry and government to drive large-scale change.As CEO, I oversee the daily operations of the organisation, ensuring that we continue to make a measurable impact in the fight against marine pollution.

Provided workplace approved training in First Aid, CPR, AED and Emergency Oxygen to both corporate partners including scuba diving operations and doctor's surgery staff as well as the general public. First Aid is a skill for life!

Working on Poseidon Outer Reef Cruises gave me the opportunity to teach scuba diving, manage dive crew and passengers on day trips out to the awesome Great Barrier Reef. Surveyed for 100 passengers Poseidon is a well-known charter boat travelling out of Port Douglas, catering for tourists from around the world who want to experience the Great Barrier Reef through snorkel and dive activities. Dive instructor and dive supervisor duties on the vessel involved people management skills, dive knowledge and skills and an understanding of the offshore ocean environment to ensure passengers had both a safe and enjoyable trip.
