I hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, majoring in land and water and am currently pursuing a Master's in Science majoring in geology. Throughout my environmental degree, I engaged with numerous subjects on planning in Australia, natural resource management (NRM), and legal studies, all of which I found highly rewarding. My passion lies in structural geology and mineral exploration, where I bring a broad, strategic perspective to problem-solving. I aim to highlight the crucial role that structural geology plays in mineralization and take pride in my ability to synthesise geological data, enabling informed decisions in exploration, resource estimation, and mine development. I have completed two internships within the mining industry, both within the gold sector, where I acquired practical experience in a range of operations, including both open-cut and underground gold mining across Australia. These roles necessitated relocation to both local communities and remote sites, significantly broadening my understanding of the mining sector and its intricate operational nuances. Moreover, my most recent internship at Newmont’s Cadia Valley Operations in NSW has deepened my understanding in gold-copper porphyry deposits and underground block caving techniques.I am currently on the committee with the AusIMM North Queensland Branch, where I collaborate with my team on organising social and networking events. Our aim is to bridge the gap between students, academic staff, and industry professionals, facilitating a seamless transition for our members into the industry or further research opportunities.I am deeply passionate about environmental science and geosciences and I thrive on giving back to my community through outreach initiatives and engaging with prospective students. I look forward to maintaining this connection throughout my career and am excited to apply both facets of my degree in the mining industry.
