My passion has always been about humanising workplaces and improving the quality of people's working lives. This began from a broad perspective of human needs but prompted by events in my life I’ve honed my focus on diversity, accessibility and inclusion. Disability can affect anyone at any time and life took an unexpected turn with a diagnosis of a degenerative condition resulting in becoming an ambulatory wheelchair user. In a country where people with disability have the highest unemployment rates of any group, I channel my optimistic passion for making a positive difference through leading from the sidelines, and leveraging a strengths-based approach, ally-ship and the power of collaboration. I’d describe myself as a proud woman with disability, and a little ‘neurospicy’, who was lucky enough to grow up on beautiful Wakka Wakka country and work on Turrbal/Jaggera lands in Meeanjin/Brisbane. My belief in the value of positive, empowered representation of people with disability in corporate settings helps me to overcome my inherent dislike of having my photo taken.
