I coach software leaders and teams through organizational change while we build incredible software. I typically coach and focus in three areas:-advising managers and executives on how to apply transparency and inclusion within their organizations as they go through growth or attrition.-consulting on how teams can become more efficient and deliver faster by breaking down their work more effectively, controlling their workflows daily, and reflecting/experimenting on how they can work differently to get more throughput. -coaching the collaboration between engineers, designers and product managers so they all succeed together and build software with an inclusive approach.

At Artium I was in client development focused on top of funnel, evangelism and prospecting. Artium is a software consultancy based in Santa Monica that builds custom software. It's an extreme programming XP consultancy. Artisans join client teams and pair program to build software together, while simultaneously teaching better ways of working in order to build high performing teams.

I joined Kin, a direct-to-consumer insuretech startup, as VP of Engineering Growth to help the tech team triple in size. Along the way I became VP of Engineering and collaborated with others on building various programs including hiring and onboarding, organizational design and change, apprenticeship, management, career laddering, DE&I, portfolion kanban with probabilistic forecasting, org communication strategy and more. Our teams built systems to support the marketing and sale of insurance, state expansion and regulatory change, accounting and claims.

I was the 800th employee at Procore. I coached and facilitated teams that grew big and split, and went through other reorgs as the tech org more than doubled in size during this timeframe. A career highlight of mine was co-designing an onsite for 350 people using open space and liberating structures, resulting in the creation of a myriad of guilds leading to improvement initiatives generated by team members. Another key initiative I spearheaded was the diffusion of lean/kanban probabilistic forecasting techniques across 25 teams.

I was the 10th employee at AppFolio where we created software for property management companies and law firms. I focused on tech enablement and agile coaching. In tech enablement, I was the first recruiter and helped hire, onboard and retain countless engineers over 9 years. I also created and ran an engineering onboarding and mentorship program. I also made a lot of contributions to AppFolio's company culture. One enduring accomplishment was creating and managing our twice-per-year hack day innovation event which to this day results in incredible product features, internal tools and even the occasional video game machine or trebuchet. I also regularly planned annual overnight relationship strengthening Tech Retreats where we went white water rafting, camping on the Channel Islands, and even to Disneyland. As an Agile coach at AppFolio we practiced XP and scrum, trained by pivotal labs. Our teams paired and switched pairs as we evolved into a larger company. This was reteaming at its finest. Along the way I hired and managed 5 internal Agile coaches and built the internal Agile Coaching group at AppFolio where we practiced Lean/XP/TDD from the start.

The first startup I joined was acquired by Citrix. By this time I had already morphed from an interaction designer into a technical project manager. I collaborated with engineers, designers and product managers who were on the initial teams that were building GoToMyPC.com, GoToMeeting.com, and GoToWebinar.com. In this role I managed software development schedules, and facilitated communication between engineering and product as well as other departments to get the releases done. Over time I built the first group of technical project managers at the company and became a manager for the first time. The group grew to about 5 project managers at the time.

I was the 15th employee at Expertcity.com, the startup that was bought by Citrix where we invented GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar. I was hired in as a writer and wrote and edited text on our marketing web sites and within our software. I then shifted into interaction design. I created countless web flows and wireframes in conjunction with engineers and visual designers on the team. We were building a marketplace for live tech support called expertcity.com. That product failed. The company pivoted. During the pivot, I was able to be part of the small, independent team that invented GoToMyPC.
