I enrolled in beauty school at 17 years old, originally as an alternative way to complete the elective credits I needed to graduate high school, and as a job I could use to pay for college. From a young age I had developed a talent for doing hair, but I didn't know if that's what I wanted to do for my career in life. Though, once in school, I found that I loved the industry, and my journey as a cosmetologist began. I did have other goals in life as well, one being marriage, and eventually I wanted to have children of my own. Both of these goals complemented my desire to work in the beauty industry, and I quickly recognized how lucky I was to have found a career that I not only loved, but that also allowed me the time I needed to be a wife and mother. As we learn and grow in life, I have discovered another passion of mine in working with children. Through my church organization, I've had the opportunity to teach, help, and support the children in the church from ages 3 to 11. I have gained and practiced the skills needed to work with children for the past 15 years, and I love it. I love them. I have a yearning desire for them to be successful in their lives, and I know it will not be an easy task for them to navigate this crazy world we live in. I also feel stronger now than ever that I need to be an audible voice in this country for the things I believe to be right. I don't know where my future path leads, but everyday I continue to work, learn, and expand my knowledge in hopes that one day I can make a difference for the better.
