Fiksari brings on demand technology support for the elderly while providing flexible work for local digital native youth. The company was started after a hackathon project in December 2015, officially in 2016 and founders became full-time entrepreneurs in March 2018. As a technology journalist at Tivi (and other Almamedia publications including Mikrobitti, Talouselämä and Kauppalehti), I specialised on written in-depth articles about disruptive technologies and producing data journalistic content for different publications, including the annual Tivi 250 list and a report on diversity at workplaces in the IT sector in Finland. I also conducted investigative journalism at Tivi.

Curated and directed the course "Journalistic Storytelling in Virtual Reality" for journalism students in the spring 2017. Previously teaching the data journalism course "Data, not dada" for journalism students and information technology students.

I was responsible for facilitating all services and program for media guests at Slush, and leading the media team. This included creating guidelines for media accreditation, granting media passes for representatives of media, arranging a press event prior to Slush itself, acquiring journalists to interview Slush speakers on different stages, planning a functional media area with necessary equipment for reporters, and facilitating interviews at Slush, among other things.In 2016, 610 journalists (including crews from CNN, BBC and CNBC, and journalists from Recode, The Economist, TechCrunch, Forbes and Quartz) attended Slush, and produced over 2000 articles mentioning Slush with the potential reach over 300 million people globally (source: Meltwater).

I recently moved from Helsinki to San Francisco to study web development at General Assembly. On the 12-week Web Development Immersive course I learned to build Node.js and Rails based web applications from scratch.During the course I created three apps, Projects 1 and 3 being individual projects, Project 2 being a group project.Project 1: Boom or BustThe app pulls data from the Finnish Patent Registry's API and displays the number of companies being founded and number of companies that have started the process on bankruptcy on previous business day in Finland. User can take a look at a list of either companies and choose to save them to their profile. The app was built with Node.js, Express and Postgres, authentication was implemented with Bcrypt.Project 2: Scene in the CityThis app helps all movie lovers in San Francisco to explore the city through the shooting locations of their favorite movies. Scene in the City uses an SF Open Data API to query San Francisco Film Society's database and displays the shooting locations of the given movie or tv series on a Google Map. The app was built on Rails and Postgres. Scene in the city was a group project and I came up with the original idea, contributed to the API integration and styling.Project 3: SkilledSkilled is an app that aims to match people and projects based on skills. It is aimed for students who want to collaborate with fellow students from different fields of studies. Skilled is built with MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express, Angular.js and Node.js) and is still in beta.
