Currently, I am the product manager for the following four product categories: pillows, accessories, futons, and medical products.My main areas of responsibility:- Outline product strategies and 3-year roadmaps in line with the overall business/corporate strategies.- ‘Own’ the product categories and related around-the-product solutions from concept to phase out (initiate consumer and market research, formulate opportunity business plans, facilitate concept development projects, drive the scoping and overall KPI-setting of the projects, as well as act as the approval authority in the execution phases).- Approve and communicate product launches, changes, and phase-outs internally and externally. For five months, I worked as a self-employed innovation consultant. My primary client was Tempur Sealy International, where I continued my work with smart sleep technologies. During these five months, I visited numerous trade fairs across Europe to closely follow the development and offerings of smart sleep technologies. I also assisted in other development projects within different innovation domains.

Technology has changed people's behavior and business operations. An example is the bedding industry, which is facing several changes due to globalization and digitalization. For companies operating in the bedding industry, being aware of rapid industry changes and preparing for the future is crucial to meet customer demand and stay differentiated from competitors. One of the industry changes facing the bedding industry is the field of consumer smart sleep technologies, CSSTs. People are becoming more aware of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, and they are seeking technological solutions that can enable a healthy and convenient lifestyle. However, the field of CSSTs is at an early stage of development with significant growth. Thus, it can be a complex field for companies that have no previous experience with Internet of Things and smart home technologies. OUTCOME: During my master thesis I studied how technology can be utilized to improve sleep patterns and habits. I also identified challenges and opportunities within the field of CSSTs. The internship at Tempur Sealy International gave me the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of practical work situations as a product development and innovation engineer at a global company. During the internship, I applied theories, methods, and processes from my BSc and MSc studies to solve real-life cases for Tempur Sealy International.

I love having an active lifestyle, and therefore, I decided to become a certified Pilates instructor in 2011. Throughout my time as a fitness instructor, I had classes twice weekly with approximately 20-40 participants. The role of fitness instructor has improved my communication competencies and presentation techniques.

In continuation of a semester project conducted in collaboration with Flindt Kristiansen, my team and I continued working with the company as study assistants. As study assistants, we developed a tablet stand for educational institutions (daycare centers and schools). More children are using tablets for entertainment and learning, but the increased use of tablets has a negative impact on children's posture as they are often sitting in a bent position.
