I am an Audiologist with 25 years of experience but my true passion lies in entrepreneurship. My first business was as a 16 year old selling hand-made greeting cards at school. Although I was a high achiever academically, creativity and artistry were never far from my being. I was a classically trained ballet dancer into early adulthood which set the foundation for my need to strive for perfection. A quality, which thankfully, I learned was sometimes holding me back and had to be unlearned through years of personal development and transformation. I have developed a high degree of self awareness and emotional agility through executive coaching which has assisted me greatly in many leadership positions. I am comfortable both leading and working within the right team environment. Culture building is important to me as an employer.One of the highest achievements I am most grateful for was receiving the prestigious W.O. McCarthy Academic Award from the University of Tasmania as their highest achieving MBA graduate. In that same year, I was also shortlisted for the Telstra Business Women’s Award. I was perhaps more proud of the fact that at the time, I was a mother of a 4 and a 2 year old. Motherhood remains my biggest achievement and evolving challenge.Notably, I was the CEO and co-owner of AudioClinic Tasmania from 2007 until 2017 when that business was sold. I am currently the CEO of Ability Hearing and Balance - an independent, Tasmanian owned Audiology Business.Aside from running my audiology clinics, I am an experienced business strategist and mentor, specialising in strategic management and marketing. I am a published author and if I had more time, would love to just write… something to look forward to in my retirement some day!As someone with a very varied skillset, I was often accused of “being good at everything” from a young age and ironically struggled with my own sense of confidence and worthiness. As a woman in business, I am often met with scepticism and disbelief that I am in fact the strategic force behind our business. I think to put your hand up and own up to what you put out into the world is intimidating and exhilarating, all at once. I made the decision to never work again for anyone unless I truly admire their purpose and humility. Our purpose, I feel, is to stay present in the joy of whatever it is we are doing in any given moment. I hope I embody that, and set an example of that for both my team and more importantly, my daughters.
