Heidi Schlumpf has been writing about religion and spirituality for more than 25 years. She is the national correspondent for the "National Catholic Reporter" and freelance writer for "CNN Opinion," "U.S. Catholic" and other publications. The author of "Elizabeth Johnson: Questing for God" and "While We Wait: Spiritual and Practical Advice for Those Trying to Adopt," she served as the editor and a contributor to "The Notre Dame Book of Prayer." Schlumpf graduated from the University of Notre Dame and has a master’s of theological studies from Garrettt-Evangelical Theological Seminary at Northwestern University, where she studied with feminist theologian Rosemary Radford Ruether. She has taught journalism at the college level. She and her husband, Edmund, have two children.
