About Heidi Torvik
I have significant experience with all stages of litigation from initial meetings through a jury trial. During my years as a lawyer, I have counseled people with claims related to medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, product liability, wrongful death, and dram shop, and have represented people seriously injured, as well as defended individuals and entities who have been faced with claims against them. Experience on behalf both plaintiff and defense has made me an effective negotiator. I have participated in numerous arbitrations and argued cases in district court, at both state and federal level, and at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.Through the years, I have had significant experience handling trust and estate disputes, as well as commercial and real estate litigation. I provide general advice and counsel to individuals and corporations on a wide variety of business and litigation issues. Growing up in west-central Minnesota, my father was the elected Chippewa County Attorney – practicing law in Montevideo, Minnesota for over 50 years. I feel honored to continue his legacy by representing clients throughout rural Minnesota.In my first career, I was a professional flutist, and obtained multiple degrees from The Juilliard School in New York City. In connection with my training, I performed and taught in New York City, across the country, and internationally. Although I have performed at most of the world’s greatest concert halls, performing on a regular basis with the original cast of Wicked on Broadway in New York was uniquely memorable. Outside the office, I can often be found playing my flute at many local judicial, community, and social events with Musica lpsa Loquitur, a chamber music ensemble composed of local judges and lawyers. I have been honored to serve as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, teaching in the area of Products Liability. When I'm not working, I enjoy downhill skiing, tennis, exploring local restaurants, and hanging around with my two cats: Sophie and Wolfgang.
