As Senior Category Manager I was personally responsible for all fresh and frozen meat for all of the over 200 Lidl shops in Sweden.I negotiated all nationally purchased meat and chicken products and coordinated the international network of producers and other Lidl countries.Other responsibilities: pricing, profitability, budget responsibility, delivery problems, product qualities, product development, supplier coordination, spotting trends, communication with other Lidl countries, contract responsibility, package design, product safety, data analyzing, campaign planning, product marketing, presentation at point of sale and logistic solutions.

To accommodate company needs I temporarily took over the leadership of the meat purchasing team (3 people in total) for 8 months.

I took over the yearly negotiations of a wide range of different branded products with a yearly turnover of over 170 million EUR in total, drink brands being one of the largest of those categories. In a time span of 4 months, I learned the products in these categories, their qualities, suppliers, market raw material prices, and how the local tax and recycling systems work and negotiated the assortment.

As an assortment manager I was responsible for the processed meat products for Lidl Finland with a turnover of over 70 Million EUR a year.I negotiated all nationally purchased processed meat products and coordinated the international network of producers and other Lidl countries.I made sure Lidl had all the right products, with the correct qualities and prices at the correct time. This included developing private label products in coordination with the suppliers from a product idea to all the way to finished product. I was in constant communication with assortment managers in other countries to spot emerging trends and to bring forth the best possible variety, authenticity and price for the customers, taking advantage of the wide network and accumulated knowledge in it.I dealt with daily challenges in product quality, delivery problems and other urgent issues that inevitably arise from a range of over a hundred products and a network of dozens of suppliers all across Europe.In addition to negotiating the buying prices, I was responsible that the sale prices were correct. In coordination with my superiors we strived to create the best price-quality ratio in the market for our customers. I’m was also accountable for the content and revision of the purchase contracts for my category. I initiated and helped with the design and creation of private label packages with the packaging team, and was trusted with guaranteeing the product safety and quality with our quality assurance team.I analysed sales data, trends and made decisions in coordination with my colleagues to improve the category in over 180 shops in Finland.I was in daily contact with a wide range of expert teams in package design, contract terms, campaigning and logistics as we reached the best possible decision for any emerging challenge, and ensured that the customer got the best possible value for their money when shopping for groceries.
