Running the IT of a small Finnish municipality as an IT manager.

Yliopistojen palvelukeskus (Certia) became a corporate on May, 2010 and is now known as Certia Oy.The business, customers and my responsibilities remain the same...

Moved back 'at home' and started as CIO (member of Board of Directors) at Certia, which was founded in May 2008 as a government office to produce financial and HR-services to Finnish universities. First sevices started in autumn 2008 with customer's existing systems.We started to build a new SAP based system in order to service the universities after they separate from government and get their independence. The SAP FICO project started January 2009 and went on-line January 2010.SAP HR & Travel project started January 2010 and went on-line February 2011.As a CIO of a new government organization I was involved in all aspects of establishing and running services to Finnish universities and during that time I gained a lot of experience of SAP projects (evaluation of definitions and solutions, member of steering group etc.), working with several suppliers, running big software / system projects (other than SAP as well), tendering acquisitions both on national and EU level, running companys own IT and developing it and so on...

I started as a Project Manager at Helsoft Oy on September 1st, 2006. Helsoft Oy was merged by AtBusiness during the summer 2007 and therefore the employer has changed on October 1st, 2007.I was running the Maritime and Logistics Business Unit and I was responsible for the solutions offered to customers, running the projects, finding new ways to serve our customers and I also had the budget and P/L responsibility of the business unit. I was also a member of Business Areas Board of Directors.Working in Helsinki while your family is still living in another place (some 450 km away) was quite demanding and therefore I 'moved back to home'...

I worked as a sub-contractor at ABB where I was running an international software project. The project had project groups in Finland, Sweden and Switzerland, and it was based on .Net / C# . The project language was English.

NOTE! This is the same as Project Manager at GeraCap Oy who was my employer at the time - but the work was actually done at ABB and therefore I wanted to list ABB as well. Also many people have linked me here as a colleague from ABB :-)

I started as Consultant at Fujitsu and worked with Lotus Notes projects.Later I worked as a Systems Architect and I was responsible for Lotus Notes business at Fujitsu.One of the biggest customer was ABB and I was personally involved in many projects att ABB; one example of the projects is PartsOnLine which is a e-commerce system based on Lotus Notes. First it was named STATIM-project.

As a Project Manager I was responsible for several Lotus Notes projects on several customers from industry to goverment and other public sector customers.One of the biggest projects was the STATIM-project where we created a Lotus Notes based e-commerce system for ABB Service. During the project I created a new way of working with Lotus Notes and since it didn't fully follow the ABB's Notes standards I had to visit ABB headquarters in Zürich to explain the new idea. The idea was approved and later on ABB modified the entire Notes standard accordingly...

I started first as a Service Manager at Vaasa office and I was responsible for the entire customer base on that area. I had a group of skilled technicians to take care of the maintenance work, while I was responsible for the contracts and similar.Later on I was responsible for the whole branch office, not only the Service department.

I was responsible for the whole Technical Department. I handled the negotiations with Commodore as well as with our service partners around the country. We also had our own service personnel and other technical experts in our own office and they were part of the organization I was responsible for.

Working as a Technical Expert in our organization. I was a member of a quite a small part of the organization which was responsible for our trading business to USSR. We were selling and exporting Commodore PC machines, several matrix and laser printers, M4 Data products, Tallgrass products and almost 'anything that we get a licence for' - and also software like Novell networks, WordPerfect, 1-2-3 and others...I handled the technical negotiations with the suppliers as well as with the customers, I ran the technical trade shows and other presentations, I personally did some of the Novell network installations, I ran the trainig to the customer and so on. One of the projects to be mentioned is a delivery of Novell network to the Ministry of Foreign Trade of USSR where I was personally responsible for the installation of the network and machines as well as running the training.

Raute Punnitus ja Automaatio started to produce their own sensors used to measure the force. Those sensors were to be used in their products.In order to get the sensors approved by the officials they had to be tested according to predefined process. The company build a huge testing machines to do the job and I was responsible for the programs used to control the testing machines as well as runnning the measurements and creating the test reports. The work was done with HP machines and measurement equipment using the HP's GB-IB bus and HP's own language.
