The project Digital Water City to which the thesis is related to has the goal to build a web application in which users (municipalities etc.) can easily build and fit a model to predict bathing water quality and so to warn and protect their communities in the case of poor bathing water qualityThe model shall be trained on already available open data like weather data from the DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst) and the periodically taken specimen on E.Coli pollution that has to be tested once per month to keep a swimming spot openGoal of thesis:- compare different machine learning models and features selection algorithms to predict bathing water quality at a public bathing spot- test and validate models in line with the European directive (https://www.bmu.de/themen/wasser-abfall-boden/binnengewaesser/badegewaesser/badegewaesser-qualitaetsindikatoren/)- make the model transferable that it can be generally trained and used at other bathing spots --> will be later inserted into the web application - compose guideline that enables the user of the web application to train and fit their own model to a new bathing spot - without a deep understanding of the underlying algorithms - by providing data from the bathing spot and combining them with data from the DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst)Links:- Flusshygiene: https://www.kompetenz-wasser.de/de/project/flusshygiene/- European directive: https://www.bmu.de/themen/wasser-abfall-boden/binnengewaesser/badegewaesser/badegewaesser-qualitaetsindikatoren/
