CurrentImpact Justice’s Food in Prison Project is the first national effort to call attention to the food crisis within prisons and jails. We explore the impacts of the carceral food experience on physical health, mental and emotional well-being, and human dignity while amplifying the voices of the individuals and communities most impacted. We seek to frame a national dialogue and foster collaboration to bring about transformative change to the food experience in carceral spaces while employing food as a tool to support reentry and decarceration.
