Rf Hardware Design Engineer
• RF support for a 9 kHz to 26.5 GHz RF monitoring product during its design finalization and introduction phase, including: RF tuner test and debug, antenna characterization and production test, and EMI characterization and mitigation• Technical lead on activities to procure and install two RF shielded enclosures and set-up capability to test antennas and perform pre-compliance Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)/ EMI testing
Rf/ Wireless Field Application Engineer
I worked as an RF Field Application Engineer (FAE) after being transferred to NJ by Motorola Semiconductor Product Sector (SPS) in 1999. In 2004, Motorola spun off SPS, which became Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. In 2015, Freescale was acquired by NXP Semiconductors.Significant AccomplishmentsWorking for Motorola SPS, I created and operated a stand-alone, one-man RF FAE Lab located in Northern NJ to provide front-line support for the top few cellular-market RF Power Amplifier (PA) customers in the Northeast US and Eastern Canada for 15+ years. After the Freescale spin-off, I helped identify and grow new non-cellular RF business markets in North America by: 1) working with potential industrial and military RF customers to identify new product opportunities, 2) interfacing with Freescale RF design teams to understand new customer applications and product needs, and 3) working with the field sales force to drive successful growth in these new RF markets.I wrote or contributed to RF application notes and white papers published and presented at various public conferences.I regularly provided RF training to small-customer non-expert RF design teams and assisted them in complex design trade-offs to achieve optimum product performance, within the limitations imposed by mechanical/ packaging/ thermal aspects of the system, while also meeting cost, quality, and reliability goals.
