The great outdoors attracted me early on in life. University was a means of immersing myself in nature, not just physically, but also intellectually. And there, the complexity of ecology grabbed my attention – interconnected systems with delicate relationships and nuances. For a student, work at height presents a great balance of adventure and honest income. I jumped at every opportunity - from stunt rigging on film sets to offshore oil and gas projects. And as my skills matured, I was drawn to establish our very own start-up and grow it to a professional consulting firm.Once we achieved that, I transitioned to a different ecosystem, where weaving together sound business strategy, a strong, engaged community and high-standard sustainable ways of working ensured that we could maintain growth during one of the worst economic contractions in decades. Indie-folk music and outdoor adventures with my wife of 17 years, and my four children, are what grounds me.
