I am an anthropologist researching peace and justice. My previous work has explored human security, migration, and refugeehood, emphasizing peace and well-being as they are practiced and pursued through everyday interactions. I am particularly interested in exploring the transborder, transcultural, and religious currents that animate refugees of different shades in the diaspora and the cooperative trends they generate. For my Ph.D., I conducted ethnographies of Rohingya refugee micro-communities in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Fort Wayne - three cities within the American Midwest - comparing their findings with lessons from the Rohingya refugee experiences in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.As a former government (army) official in Bangladesh, I closely observe Bangladesh's governance and citizen aspirations and have published on its security and threat perceptions, religiopolitical currents, environmental activism, and dynamics of mass mobilization.
