10+ years of experience across multiple sectors and work environments, including academia, industry and government. I joined NOVA University Lisbon in 2019 to lead the NOVA Impact Office, the knowledge transfer support arm of the University, with the mission of fostering an entrepreneurial, knowledge-based and high-impact innovation ecosystem within NOVA. I am now the Head of Research and Innovation Management at the same University, working closely with academic, industry, public sector and civic partners, developing strategic science and innovation interdisciplinary programs, and ensuring that science and value creation at NOVA go hand in hand.Trained as a scientist in international leading institutions, I hold a PhD in Bioengineering under the MIT Portugal Program and in collaboration with EMBL-Heidelberg, after working as business controller in a Portuguese company present in 6 countries. Former Advisor to the Portuguese Minister of Economy in the areas of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Bioeconomy, where I played an active role in the design and implementation of innovative public policies, such as Programa Interface and Startup Portugal.With a Biomedical Engineering background, I have a deep understanding of the main opportunities, challenges and stakeholders in the Life Sciences and Biotech sectors.Systems thinker, skilled in intellectual property management and exploitation, research support and administration, diplomacy and negotiation capabilities.I love being involved in challenging projects, always striving to add value wherever I am.
