At PWA I have been able to acquire more knowledge about water and wastewater technologies and regulations in New South Wales. I also gained experience in process design, consulting and project management.

During my time at Xylem, I expanded my technical knowledge on Ultra Violet disinfection and ozone generators (from process selection to operation). I visited several water and wastewater plants all over South Africa and in Nigeria and Germany for educational purposes, site evaluations and troubleshooting.I also learned more about big tender processes and worked with end users, consultants and contractors from pre-feasibility to commissioning of projects that included UV reactors and ozone generators.

Plant support and investigations on boiler feed water preparation plants.Gained experience with filtration, reverse osmosis and water softening.

Plant support and projects in the water and ash group.Gained experience in biological waste water treatment (including attached growth systems), a thermal destruction unit and general process engineering equipment.

This mostly entailed plant support where I solved day to day issues at Process Cooling and the Waste Recycling Facility. I learnt about industrial water treatment processes and also did small projects.

This was a very good people experience where I learnt how to work with customers, managers and colleagues. I also learnt how to carry three dishes at a time.

During this time, I was responsible to evaluate the efficiency of a distillation column and also to resize a control valve.
