She’s part of the leadership team and responsible for Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Circularity within both ports, Delfzijl and Eemshaven. Groningen Seaports is at the forefront of the circular economy with an innovative circular cluster based on industrial symbiosis.Heleen has finished her first master degree at the University of Groningen and her second master degree, an MBA Energy Transition, Cum Laude at the University of Groningen Business School. She has a strong focus on combining circular economy and innovation, therefore she has founded a start-up community together with Economic Board Groningen facilitating high tech solution start-ups with industrial focus in Eemshaven. Furthermore, Heleen is Chairman of the board of Vereniging Circulair Groningen, a business association focussed on circular economy. She’s Co-Chairman of the board of Young-SBE, a business association for industry and Chairman of the board of the Northern Netherlands Plastic Foundation, in the latter she applies her intrinsic drive to tackle the global plastic problem and focuses on a future-proof society through education, awareness and prevention’.
